Journey to pottery

Welcome to Bywater Pottery. My name is Sarah Pantel and I am the potter behind Bywater. I began throwing during the Covid pandemic, and it was an immediate captivation. There is so much to learn in the world of pottery, and the work that goes into each piece is remarkable. I’m very grateful to the potters at Stoneware Gallery and Studio for their instruction and encouragement. It has been a joy to start on this path. Bywater Pottery was named due to my home studio being by a lake, and also from the restfulness the name itself implies. My studio is dedicated to the timeless craft of pottery, creating wheel-thrown stoneware and porcelain clay pieces that are functional and beautiful.

Each item is wheel-thrown and fired in a gas-reduction kiln to Cone 10, resulting in durable, unique creations with rich textures and deep, vibrant colors. Creating pottery is a journey that I approach with passion and precision. From the initial shaping on the wheel to the final glaze firing, every piece undergoes a meticulous process to ensure it meets my high standards. We all seek a restful place in a hectic world – Bywater hopes to offer you beautiful, unique pieces that carry a bit of that peace.
